Measurement Guide for Flat Window Blinds

Measurement for Roller and Roman blinds for the flat windows is simple. Below is a relevant guide for a perfect fit flat window blind. The blinds can be fitted inside or outside the recess as per your preference. Depending on this factor, the procedure changes.

Tools required:

  • a metal tape measure
  • a pen or pencil

Blinds Inside the Recess

01. WIDTH

Measure the wall-to-wall distance inside the recess at the top, middle and bottom. The narrowest width needs to be considered.

02. HEIGHT

At least from 3 points, measure the height inside the recess and consider the longest measurement.

03. INSTALLATION HEIGHT

Measure the height from where you are planning to install the blind to the floor. This is to ensure that your pull chain is at the correct height.

Outside the recess

01. WIDTH

The window sill width is to be measured. Measure wall-to-wall distance inside the recess and add 10cm to each side, in the case if you don’t have a window sill.

02. HEIGHT

From the point where you would like to install your blind to the window sill or bottom of the recess, measurement is to be taken. If we are to recommend, installing your blind up to 30cm above the window frame would be the best option.

03. INSTALLATION HEIGHT

Measure the height from where you are planning to install the blind to the floor. This is to ensure that your pull chain is at the correct height.
